A group of Local designers are Fashioning Our Economic Stimulus

From October 24^th-31^st a group of Brooklyn designers will begin “Fashioning their own Economic Stimulus”! They have designed a week long Brooklyn Fashion Week event; creating a “BKStyle!™"  platform  as a  full service option for sourcing, showing, marketing and advertising their independent fashion related products  and services! By creating a physical cluster, where Designers have access to this support, trade and consumers, organizers plan to decrease obstacles to success within the Sector! They are appealing to individuals businesses for support and sponsorship in his project!

"Give a man a fish feed him for a day; Teach him to fish feed him for a lifetime.

 I recently read a post on  teaching  and  fishing and it suddenly  dawned on me… there had to be a first time for fishing!

"When a man is hungry and he sees fish he will devise a way to get  that fish! That's innovation... and it is the spirit with which I lead this project! 

 Inertia is not an option, you eat or die; we are either part of the problem or the solution! Designers need to sell this Holiday to ensure survival next year!

We need a space and the goal is $150,000 annually, simply for the capacity needs, to make the Bkstyle!™ Style Pavilion a permanent facility. I recent wrote a note Fashion and Art Businesses Need A Hacker-Incubator-Coworking Space, in a little over two  weeks that post got over 2300 hits! 

     The Bkstyle!™ Style Pavilion will be much more than a boutique for designers to show products! It will be an incubator for startups in fashion and the creative products and services seeking to integrate new media technology and methodologies. It will also be a hacker space where various individuals will come together to Innovate! More-so it will be a space where local businesses can find the resources and programs they need!

     BROOKLYN (and apparently creatives across the globe) is hungry for a facility like this... and I need help ensuring that the young people and existing business get that help and support! We have a strong formula for economic stimulus; I have used it over and over! To turn that formula into an effective program we need space and funding!

So much  so that i am  willing to put the annual naming rights to the BKstyle!™ Style Pavilion up for sponsors....ie the Brooklyn Location”. Yes, there will be other BKstyle!™ Style Pavilions, (we've had designers step forward) across the country and the globe! For a brand, this is the ultimate goodwill sponsorship or marketing campaign! And it comes with a built in marketing machine!

    This above all is the message of this event. This is Grass roots not Astro-Turfing, Green, not Green-washing! We do not wait for resources; all that we need is in our hands and in our community! This has become a template that will be adopted by other local designers to jumpstart their sectors!

     There is no other way...we have a business model to sustain these centers, but each  will need an impetus to  jumpstart, Angels and VC's DO NOT cross the Atlantic... i.e. Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn!
